Blog Tour: Claiming Jeremiah by Missy B. Salick

Welcome to my stop on the Claiming Jeremiah Blog Tour
hosted by Tasty Book Tours.
This tour is from June 3rd - June 14th,
you can find the other stops HERE.

Claiming Jeremiah Blurb:

On the same night that twenty four-year-old Jordyn Sims has a miscarriage, her sister-in-law Tori Sims conceives a child. Nine months later, Tori, a long term heroin addict, abandons her two-hour-old drug addicted newborn Jeremiah, in a hospital stairwell. Jordyn receives the news and pursues foster adoption. However, Oscar, Tori's possessive drug-addicted boyfriend, is not about to give Jeremiah up so easily. While in confrontation with Tori and Oscar, Jordyn seeks help from the Administration of Children Services (ACS), only to discover she is faced with a maze of departments, regulations, legalities and overworked social workers. Jordyn, however, remains strong and continues to push through the uphill battle, even after she discovers she's pregnant.

With all odds against her adoption of Jeremiah, and her pregnancy at high risk from increasing stress, will Jordyn win this tough battle, or will her world crumble before her?

Cindy's Review;  I must say, Jordyn is one strong woman. ;) Claiming Jeremiah was a really hard-touching read of family and how hard adopting a child can be. What makes the story even better is that the author hits close to home writing this story. At the end of the book, the author told us about the child she also adopted. She also went through the horrible long months of process, just like Jordyn. So I must say, she must also be a very strong woman. And that boy Missy adopted is so cute. ;D Way cute.

At the start of Catching Jeremiah, Jordyn has a miscarriage. And at the same time, her sister-in-law, who is like a drug addict, who has crazy attachment to her boyfriend who treats her like crap. I'm sorry for my language guys, but Oscar is like so horrible. I just want to put him to jail! gives birth to like her second child, or is it 3rd? She has a lot of babies.

When Jordyn hears that Tori had just left Jeremiah under the stairs, Jordyn immediately wants to adopt him. But adopting Jeremiah has a super long process, and Jordyn still didn't give up after she got pregnant, after she was going through stress and panic attacks, Jordyn still thinks Jeremiah needs a home. What's even worse is when Oscar goes and attack Jordyn for Jeremiah; But being strong, Jordyn holds true that she will get Jeremiah and be part of her family.

Jordyn is a really strong woman that not only cares for herself, but everyone else. My reaction to this book was just D'awwwwwww all the way. ;)

I rate this an 8~

Author Bio:
Missy B. Salick is a new author who has written her first novel, Claiming Jeremiah. Her fictional memoir on foster adoption is drawing a hefty buzz, with an online release date not until April 7, 2013 ( May 4 in paperback). The novel is small in size, but contains a powerful message. "Children in foster care need a place to call home."  Salick, a foster care advocate, wrote this book based on her personal journey of foster adopting her four-year-old son. Before self-publishing, Claiming Jeremiah, Salick spent several years as a freelance business writer for Fortune 500 companies such as: Shearman & Sterling, KPMG, Deloitte and many more. She also had a stint with song ghost writing. Salick's experience in the entertainment industry stems from working with entertainment companies and media including Violator, MBK, Village Voice and more. As the founder of J.J. Autumn Publishing, her publishing company is geared towards highlighting urban fiction dedicated to special causes and community awareness projects.

Q&A w/ Missy:

1. What inspired you to write Claiming Jeremiah?

A: I was inspired to write Claiming Jeremiah after I experienced the foster adoption process with my son. My son was a family member who entered foster care and I wanted to prevent that from happening as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, due to legal and state laws it was harder than I thought. I did research, reading several books and articles on what I could do to stay positive and to learn more about the process. While I found several books about the technical information I needed, I couldn’t find any that illustrated a positive story and outcome. I wanted more than just information. I wanted to experience the roller coaster ride of someone else’s journey to give me hope. And the stories that were hopeful seemed too good to be true. I wanted the bad along with the good. I wanted the truth. While foster care isn’t always a beautiful and positive subject to speak about, I believe it is a subject that needs more public attention drawn to it in the media and from those who have experienced it from both sides, both the children and the parents. I kept a journal of my own personal trials and tribulations and that lead to the birth of Claiming Jeremiah.

2. What was the toughest part about writing Claiming Jeremiah?

A: The toughest part about writing Claiming Jeremiah was the character development. It was very important to me to capture each character the right way. The reader needs to be able to experience not only what it is like being each character, but also to get the information they needed to foster a child in care. For instance, from the first chapter you easily understand Jordyn and what she is about. However, with Tori, she is a much more complex character. From the first pages, you see her confused, scattered, and being a heavy drug user who has left her two-hour-old newborn in a hospital stairwell. The normal reaction would be to dislike her character. Tori is misunderstood, however, and I wanted to reveal what it would be like to walk in Tori’s shoes. What causes her to do this to her body, to herself, and to her children? What’s the driving force behind her actions? These are all questions I wanted to explore and give some shape and impression of to my readers. More importantly, I wanted to show her other side and not make her out just to be the villain.

3. Why did you start writing?

A: Writing has always and will always be a part of my life. Writing is my comfort zone. Nothing brings me more peace and assurance in my life than writing. There is no judgment when my pen hits the paper. To me it’s my time to be free. I can say what I want, wear what I want, be whom I want. Writing keeps me sane. When I write I have the opportunity to let go and express myself.

You are still very young—at what age did you begin this process, and what has it been like being a young foster (adoptive) mother?

A: I began this process when I was twenty-four years old. I must say it has been a rewarding experience. Never in a million years would I have thought I would be doing this, yet alone at this age. It’s funny, because when my husband and I go to trainings or into the agencies we are always the youngest ones there. We usually get bombarded with questions and then praised for our actions.

4. As a foster parent, since you have witnessed some of the challenges involved in all the red tape, what are some solutions that you can offer?

A: Each situation is different. You have to find what solutions work best for you. For me, I was dealing with two states and therefore had to deal with four different agencies: the ICPC of each state and each state’s local agency. It was a nightmare. My solution was to make sure nothing fell through the cracks. Each day I was constantly e-mailing or calling someone for a status update. My advice would be to find out what the hold up is or what you can do to make the process move faster and more smoothly. The caseworkers have so many cases and things going on, it’s easy for them to get sidetracked. I’ve learned they care as much as you care. If you show extra incentive, they will too.

What suggestions would you give to aspiring writers?

A: You have to start somewhere. You cannot finish that book if you don’t write. Write as much as you can. The best part about writing is you can do it anywhere. Always remain true to yourself and your characters. Most importantly—keep writing and find a great editor you connect with.

Author Interview: Jennifer Nielsen, the Author of The Transcendence Series

Jennifer A. Nielsen
The Runaway King (The Transcendence Series #2)
had recently came out. Well, like a couple months ago....
and I interviewed the author! ;D
The Runaway King is the sequel of The False Prince,
which I had no idea that they were part of the Transcendence series.

My review of The Runaway King.

1. Who is Jaron based on? He has such a cocky personalty, is it from someone you know?

Jaron is a creation solely from my imagination, which is probably a good thing because I'd pity anyone who had to try to parent him! And yeah, he can be cocky at times, but I think the bigger his troubles get, the humbler he becomes too.

2. When you first wrote The False Prince, did you think about adding romance there? It seems romance isn't a big part of book 1, which I liked very much.

I did consider including more romance, but really, this is intended to be a middle grade book so the romantic elements are more on the back burner. I do think as the series progresses, there is a sense of the romance growing, and personally, I like to see that slow burn. That said, I've been surprised to know mow many of my middle grade readers are invested in which girl Jaron will end up choosing. I tend to think the better question, is, now that they both know how difficult he can be, is either girl willing  to take him?

3. Are you a big fan of medieval times or dystopian? (i think The Ascendance Trilogy is more of a medieval time book. Right?)

For book genres, I love them both. The Ascendance trilogy is definitely medieval, a time period which has always fascinated me and which I think inspires a ton of story ideas, but I also love books set in dystopian times.

4. Are you happy to be known as a writer? When someone hears your name and go "Ooh I know her!! She wrote..." How does it feel?

I think it's awesome to meet really enthusiastic fans. i love to talk with them and hear their thoughts about the story. But it can also be crazy at times. Good...but crazy.

5. What is your favorite scene or quote from The Runaway King?

A scene that really stands out as a favorite for me is when Jaron is climbing the cliff wall and realizes, maybe for the first time, how much he has to lose if he doesn't finish his fight. As much as he hurts and as hard as that climb is, Jaron has to make the decision that he will get to the top and claim back his kingdom. For me, I think it is one of his most noble moments.

6. When you started writing The False Prince, did you make up your mind that it was going to be a trilogy? I learned some authors actually wanted their books to be stand-alones, but their fans wanted more.

When I first started writing, I had it plotted out as a stand-alone. But the more I got into it, the more I realized that the world was much larger than a single book. So it was offered to the publishers as a stand-alone, but when I learned Scholastic liked the idea of making the story into a trilogy, I was thrilled.

7. Did you have fun writing The False Prince and The Runaway King? I know writing can sometimes be a drag but writing Jaron's personality got to be fun. ;D

Writing this series has never been a drag. I can be as surprised by what Jaron might do or say next as readers sometimes are, and with the other characters, this has been great fun to write. I love this world.

8. Do you tend to plan write or are you more of a straight on kind of girl?

It used to be that as started a new project, I would know how the story began and ended, but not much  about the journey in between. Now, in working with an editor, I've needed to be more of an outliner. It took some work to change those habits, but I'm very glad I did. Outlining has made my writing time more efficient, and helped me know from the beginning whether a story really has a strong enough concept to make it worth writing.

Well, thanks so much to Jennifer Nielsen for being here today! It was a joy to interview you and read your answers~ ;D

Author Interview: Jennifer Snyder, The Author of Exhale

Jennifer Snyder
Hey guys, I recently reviewed some books by Jennifer Snyder. And her books are just amazing~  so I decided to do an author interview~

She wrote some awesome books like Exhale, The Unloved, and Shattered Soul.

Hope you'll enjoy~

1. Out of all the books you've written, which one did you enjoy the most?

Shattered Soul, which was my debut novel. That novel came to me lightning fast! Even though it touches on some very sensitive subjects and my heartstrings were tugged in a million different ways while writing it - Seth's voice in my head was amazing!

2. How long did it take you to write Exhale?

About 6-8 weeks.

3. What is the first book you remember reading as a child?

My first favorite book as a kid was The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl. I must have read that book a thousand times!

4. If you were going to come up with a theme song for your book, what song would it be?

Funny thing is, I generally only have a handful of songs that spur inspiration and to be honest that's really only when I write my contemporary novels. When it comes to my paranormal ones (with the exception of The Marked Duology) I don't listen to music when writing. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is a song for The Unloved - it would definitely be Scars by Papa Roach. When I first heard that song I felt like it had been written for them and them alone.

5. Do you like to plan things out before you write?

You know, it would be ice if I did. If I was one of those authors who write these gloriously detailed outlines and basically just has to fill in small blanks left that would be wonderful. But that's not me. My writing process is a little more unorganized than that. I generally start out with either a little clip of dialogue, which could be as small as a single sentence or as long as a paragraph, or else a scene that either pops in my head or comes to me through a dream. And then I go from there.

6. What is your favorite thing to do during your free time?

Read of course! When I'm not reading or writing I can be found outside playing with my two kids or attempting to have the best flower garden in my little neighborhood. If only I could get the pretty little things to grow...

7.How did you get your agent?

I actually don't have an agent. I'm a Self-Published/Indie Author.

8. What is a food you can eat forever without getting tired of it?

Salads. I could eat a salad every day of my life and never get sick of them.

9. Do you prefer print or e-books? Bookshelf or e-Reader?

It all depends. I still enjoy paperbacks sometimes, but generally only buy them if I'm in love with the author's previous work or I've read a killer e-book and want it on my bookshelf. Most of the time though, it's e-books for me.

10. Do you have an author you look up to? If so, who?

Of course! There are loads of authors that I admire for various reasons. Jennifer Echols has a flawless way of writing, as does Abbi Glines. Anne Rice and Annette Curtis Klause wrote two of my all-time favorite novels. Jessica Sorensen novels always pull me in as well.

Those are just to name a few. There are many more authors that I'm in love with their writing style and the way they have conducted themselves in both the Indie and Traditionally published worlds.

Thanks so much for allowing me to be on your blog!

Thank you so much for taking your time to answer these questions! ;D Hope you guys had fun. And be sure to read Exhale. I just absolutely love that book~ And of course all the other books written by Jennifer too.

You can hit her up at her website (given above). I'm sure she'll let you request a book. ;)

Blog Tour: Unmaking Hunter Kennedy by Anne Eliot

Welcome to my stop on the Unmaking Hunter Kennedy Blog Tour
hosted by Supagurl Tours.
Click HERE to check out the rest of the tour schedule.

Unmaking Hunter KennedyBlurb:  After a car accident--an event he considers a prank gone bad--pop star, Hunter Kennedy is forced to hide out with his aunt in small-town Colorado. He’s supposed to rest, heal his scars and attend high school in disguise until the press dies down. But he only wants to get back to work.

Worse, the girl who’s been assigned to make him over into a geek is a major geek herself. Vere Roth is a chattering pixie, a blushing tornado and a complete social disaster. He’s never met a girl who’s never-been-kissed, believes in romance and thinks Hunter’s a 'nice' guy.

Funny thing is...Hunter is nice around Vere because she’s his first real friend. He also can’t seem to stop sharing his secrets or keep her out of his heart. Knowing he’d never deserve a girl as sweet as Vere, he resigns himself to the friend zone, and helps his new bestie with her own makeover.

She tortures him daily for ridiculous guy advice on how to snag her life-long crush. A guy Hunter thinks is totally wrong for Vere, and sadly, one who has taken note of Vere’s transformation.

When Vere asks her best friend for some kissing advice, Hunter can’t resist...

And that’s when things get out of control...

High School Romance, first love, sweet romance

Cindy's Review:
Okay, let me just say, I love these young adult high school novels where there are celebrities. Correct that, hot male celebrities for grabs by the main character. They totally melt me down. Omg *dying just from reading the book over here. ;)

I like the guy's name. Hunter. I only know one person who was ever named Hunter. And he was the girl who sat next to me in math in 6th grade's boyfriend. Except she was in 7th and her boyfriend was also in 7th grade, I think. Yeah. Okay. Random facts by me.

I squeal whenever they have the thoughts of liking one another. You just have to cheer them on on the sidelines since they can't even hear you. Omg. <3333

Vere is apparently, a nerd, geek, or whatever you call the loser in your school. And her brother is the popular guy who plays football. Kinda like Vere is Lisa Simpsons and her brother Charlie is Bart Simpsons. But after helping Hunter change from a great, big, shining star to a dull, little nerd at a public school called Kennedy, Vere actually gets help back from Kennedy. Kennedy helps her transform into a more cool, pretty, and updated person. LOL. Sorry to sound mean. But from the cover, she looks like one of those really popular girls. Maybe he really changed her a lot. Okay. The cover is melting me down.....

Kennedy keeps telling himself she is just a super normal girl who knows his secret, but he can't help getting jealous when she hits on her lifelong crush, Curtis. Every time I see Curtis, I think it's a middle name, because I have a friend with that middle name. LOL. And every time I see Charlie, I think of that "Ouch! Charlie bit my finger!"
video because people at school are so immature. Omg. Back on topic!

This book is how I dream of me and my kpop stars. So romantic!! I need to be in the book! LOL.

So high recommendations for those who love some young adult romance novel!

Rate: (1-10): 9!

Interview with Anne Eliot!! ;)
(This was supposed to be an author guest post, but we did an interview instead. I hope that works!!)

 1.  What happened that made you want to hit your forehead and say "I wan't to be an author!"? Or you always knew all along and didn't even need to do that.

I was a library rat and became a book addict at an early age. My dad was a huge reader and he used to take me to the library with him and dump me off in the ‘kids’ area and there I would sit gathering as many books as I possibly could before Dad came back and said my time was up. I’d read my stacks and beg him to take me back to the library. When that didn’t work out I would try to write my own stories. (All terrible.) At fourteen/fifteen I discovered commercial romance novels and I have never looked back. I swore I would write romance one day, but my parents were not supportive of this idea and I did not have a clue how to proceed. I went off to college to do other things and it was not until I discovered a local writers group and went to my first writing conference that I found a way to start writing more seriously. I joined Romance Writers of America and that group showed me the ropes of craft, taxes, critiques, query letters, editors, agents and best of all I got to meet other writers like me.

2.  Is there going to be a sequel of Unmaking Hunter Kennedy, maybe with new characters?

Currently there is not a sequel planned, but so many have asked that I write one about Jenna and Charlie, and/or take Vere and Hunter into the first year of their relationship.

3.  Is Hunter Kennedy based on anyone? Any celebrities you're a fan of? Or just straight from your mind?

I’m a pop junkie. I love MTV and watching the stars rise and fall, come and go like everyone else. I have spent a great deal of time fan-girling for fun so of course he’s a compilation of every cute, low voiced, sexy pop singer I’ve ever had a crush on. If I chose only one or two, it ruins the idea for someone who’s in love with a different pop star.

I got the idea for Hunter Kennedy watching MTV’s awesome show called ‘MADE’. It’s a show where they take a regular person and in six weeks ‘make’ them into someone else. From a nerd to a beauty queen… We’ve all watched teen stars lose it on TV, or worse lose their lives to depression and drugs. I always find myself wondering about these teens. I wondered if any of them ever wanted ‘out’. If you could take a teen star, one who grew up on TV in front of us all and if you could hide them, and ‘unmake’ them into a normal person again? How far would a teen go to get out, how far would a mom go to save her kid if she sensed she was losing him.

4. If you were going to come up with a theme song for Unmaking Hunter Kennedy, what song would it be?

Hmm…that’s a tough one because there are so many songs that would be perfect… but off the top of my head, I say the one that reminds me of Hunter and that captures some of the sadness and loneliness Hunter was feeling at the beginning is Five for Fighting, Superman….

“It may sound absurd, but don't be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed, but won't you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream
It's not easy to be me…”

5. Who is your favorite character in the book and who can you relate the most to?

Personally, I relate to Vere because I do get really awkward like she does face-to-face. I don’t blush but my brain does stop working when it’s most needed.  (I got that from one of my daughter’s friends who does that 24/7) .
My favorite character is Jenna because she reminds me of an insane best friend I had while growing up. (We are still friends, but now she’s a mom of four, so she’s lost some of her crazy because she’s tired all the time.)

6.  What books could you relate Unmaking Hunter Kennedy to?

In story writing past and present there are always stories of ‘hidden princes’, or ‘hidden princesses’. It’s a really common theme. Hunter as an American pop star could be seen as one of those. And of course, there are tons of stories about rock-stars, bands, movie stars. (If you love movie stars read Tamara Weber’s Between the Lines). It should be a genre all it’s own. Like medieval, there should be a whole category of just ‘books about sad-sexy-pop-stars’ ! (And if there is one, please, someone send me that link!’)

7. Will there be a movie of the book?

In my dreams Cindy, in my dreams. I wish wish wish. WISH. If it happened I would fall out of my skin and fly to the moon. So, yeah…wishing wishing…

8. How long did it take your book to sell?

It took me two years to write it and get it going, and there were many days I thought it never would be a book people could buy. I self published both of my books via Amazon.com’s amazing Kindle Direct Publishing platform and my print books came from Amazon’s CreateSpace company. Without them, the Amazon.com storefront plus the publishing tools they’ve created to help authors hold their books in their hands (and on the gorgeous Kindles) not to mention the feedback, and the customer support they offer--(don’t believe me, call CreateSpace right now and a real person will talk to you-- I would be nothing but sad and still unpublished.
My stories would be hiding under my bed and I would be waiting to sell my books. I owe Amazon.com so much for how hard they work to let authors like me publish and then to create a store where the little guys can feature their books along with the big guys.
I actually wrote Unmaking Hunter Kennedy before I wrote my first published book, Almost. Almost was a project and a story about a girl who has rape-related PTSD. That book also took me about two years. (It is first a teen romance, though). Unmaking Hunter Kennedy was pitched, and shopped and taken to conferences. It even had it’s name changed to a manuscript called, ‘The Boyfriend Contract’ for awhile. A version that had all of the beginning chapters taken out in an attempt to try to make it a story about Vere. This was because agents/editors I’d met told me I could not have a romance story that began with a boy because the girls would not relate to it. I’m really glad I got to put all of it back together with Hunter up front.  I am even more happy girls and women seem to love that it begins with Hunter. YAY.

9. How did you get your agent?

Pixie dust and magic. I swear. I tried to get an agent for six long years. In 2012, Almost became a sleeper hit. After simmering on the teen/love and romance charts for five months it spent two weeks on the Amazon.com top 100 and stayed a bestseller in the top 100 of Children’s/teens for ten months! It just kept climbing the charts and hanging out.
My agent, Jane Dystel of Dystel and Goderich Literary Management, contacted me. (An email I actually had to walk away from, go drink a coffee, and then return to my desk to read it again--because I thought I’d dreamed it!) I emailed back and she called!! And now, together with Agent and Subsidiary Rights Director, Lauren Abramo, they’ve recently sold my book Almost to be in print in Germany and Turkey! I love them to my core and I am so grateful, lucky, everything. They are a dream come true for me, as well.

10. Do you want to say anything to our fellow viewers and your fans?

Yes. Just thank you. It’s always been my dream to simply make people fall in love in a book. I can’t believe I have fans at all (so again, thank you because honestly I’m just a reader and a romance fan also)!
It’s so humbling when people email or tweet me a ‘hello’!  Thanks for reading romance, loving romance and for checking out my books because without readers and people being in love with falling in love, I would have no dream at all.

11. And you say whatever story you wish to tell or any extra things if you want. ;)

Even though Almost came out first, you know Unmaking Hunter Kennedy is my first blog tour book. Cindy you were one of the first to reach out and send me cool questions and crack me up about all of this. You’re awesome, dedicated and just...thanks so much for having me and giving me your time and putting my book on your beautiful blog.  Xo Annie

I want to thank Anne very much for spending her time with me today and having a lot of fun together. ;) You gotta love this author! She's so funny!!

Blog Tour: Persistence of Vision by LK Hill

Welcome to my stop on the Persistence of Vision Tour
hosted by the author herself, Liesel K Hill!
Click HERE to view the rest of the tour schedule.
Today, I will be doing a review and an interview with one of the characters, Clay.

 Blurb:

In a world where collective hives are enslaving the population and individuals have been hunted to the verge of extinction, Maggie Harper, and independent 21st Century woman, must find the strength to preserve the freedom of the future, but without the aid of her memories.

After experiencing a traumatic time loss, Maggie is plagued by a barrage of images she can't explain. When she's attacked by a creep with a spider's web tattoo, she is saved by Marcus, a man she's never met, but somehow remembers. He tells her that both he and her creepy attacker are from a future in which individuals are being murdered by collectives, and Marcus is part of the rebellion. The collectives have acquired time travel and they plan to enslave the human race throughout all of history. The flashes Maggie has been seeing are echoes of lost memories, and the information buried deep within them is instrumental in defeating the collective hives.

In order to preserve the individuality of mankind, Maggie must try to re-discover stolen memories, re-kindle friendships she has no recollection of, and wade through her feelings for the mysterious Marcus, all while dodging the tattooed assassins the collectives keep sending her way.

If Maggie can't fill the holes in her memory and find the answers to stop the collectives, the world both in her time and in all ages past and future will be doomed to enslavement in the grey, mediocre collectives. As the danger swirls around her and the collectives close in, Maggie realizes she must make a choice: stand out or fade away...

*New Adult futuristic dystopian fantasy

Cindy's Review:  First off, I would like to thank Ms. Liesel K. Hill for asking me to review this book and sending me a copy. Totally did not regret saying yes to her offer. :) Since, I feel so thankful, I'll be doing this review in my normal reviewing posts way. ;)

The Cover:
I think the cover is scary. LOL. When my English teacher saw it, she was like 'ooohhhhh'. I'll tell you why she saw it later... i like how I know who the guy is when I just began to read the book. So, good job explaining there. ;)

The Characters/Plot:
Maggie Harper - Maggie is from the present day, as in now, the 21st, century. When one day, she woke up not knowing what happened to her for one whole night, she doesn't know what to make of the until a year later, the same man she saw a year before came to get her, to save her, in fact. There, she ran away from these minions called Arachniman (I think..) who are trying to kill her.

Marcus - He is the one who went back to present day to save Maggie. Then, he took Maggie to the future, ( we don't know how far ) to work as a BCO member, like she originally was, and help save the world before it gets taken away by the bad guys.

A BCO member each have their own different role and different job. That's what I like about this book. Maggie is the Executioner  and Marcus is the Healer. Joan, Clay, Doc, and Karl all plays different roles. They make up a team, but this stop would be focusing on Clay. ;)

The Ending:
The ending actually left me wondering what would happen next and wanting for more. And I also begin to question who Maggie's brother really is.

Extra:
I'm doing a book report on this book....since the genre of my book report must be Science Fiction or Fantasy and this book was right in front of my face, so why not? Plus, I was too lazy to go the library. Our book report though, is to make a board game out of this book. (I'm dying over here...) So does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? (I hope asking for ideas isn't consider cheating) Thanks!

Rate: (1-10) 9!
;)

Interview with Clay:

First, I'll introduce who Clay is in the book. Clay is the Concealer of the group and he hides the team from being spotted completely. He is the shy and quiet person in the team, but does a huge job in advancing the team forward on missions.

1. Can you fully explain what your job as a Concealer is?

Of course. I’m Clay and that’s my role in the prophecy. In our world, everything is done with the mind, with what we call neurochemical abilities. Many can sense other people’s minds or neurochemical abilities, and dangerous people will lash out at them to incapacitate the person. I use my abilities to Conceal the minds of others. Basically, I just wrap a shield around the mind of the person I’m Concealing. It masks or blocks their neurochemical signature so that anyone searching won’t be able to find them that way. It doesn’t hide them physically from another person’s eyes, but if they stay out of sight, no one will even know they’re around.

2. What was your first impression of Maggie?

I love Maggie! She’s kind and intelligent and funny. A bit rebellious perhaps, but I’ve always been okay with that. She fit right in with the team. Mostly, though, she’s very decent. She senses right and wrong always ends up on the right side of things.

3. How old are you? (LOL just wondering…)

I’m twenty-two, which makes me one of the younger ones on the team. I’m married, though, and my wife is expecting our first child.

4. How did you get into the Brain Chemistry Optimists?

Actually it’s kind of in my blood. My family has been a part of the BCO since its founding. My parents and grand-parents grew up in it, as did I. My wife was the same way. We grew up together and hope to raise our children in this same life style—to fight against oppression.

5. What do you do in your free time when you’re not Concealing the team?

Naturally I spend as much time with my wife as possible. My best friends are the team members, so even when we aren’t working we tend to spend a lot of time together. Maggie and I were always especially close. I also art. I whittle and carve. I’m working on toys for when my child is born.

6. Is there any special place at heart that you want to go or do go in Interchroniter?

I would love to see the world. Don’t get me wrong, I love my home at Interchroniter, but it can be confining. It’s too dangerous to travel with the collective goons roaming around. I dream of the day when my child can walk across a mountain range and breathe the free air without fear of being absorbed by the collective.

7. Do you have any feelings for anyone?

Just my wife and unborn baby. Like I said, the team is all very close. We’re like close-knit brothers and sisters.

8. If you could go back in time and do something over again, what would it be?

I don’t have any major regrets in my lifetime, but given what happens on the island (I won’t spoil it for you) I guess if given the chance I’d just go back and make sure that I told everyone who was important to me how I felt about them. Life can change so suddenly and then all the chances you thought you’d always have can be gone.

9. Can you explain what this world in the future is like?

It’s kind of a scary place to live. The collectives are trying to force every person on the planet into collective living. Those of us who champion individualism are few and far-between. We have to keep ourselves hidden in order to be safe. The collective’s henchmen—known as Arachnimen and Trepids—constantly roam about looking for people to harm, torture, even kill if they can’t force them into the collective.

Yet, it’s not terrible for all that. Those of us who live in places like Interchron are strong in our cause. We stick together, help one another, and try to find happiness in our daily
lives. We have hope and a lot of it. It makes one feel very alive.

10. Finally, what do you think about all the other team members?

As I’ve said, they’re my family. Maggie is the most important one on the team. I don’t envy her task, even though she isn’t entirely certain what it will be yet. Doc is the leader and everyone looks to him as such. Karl and Marcus are the rocks of the team, though Karl is much less stoic than Marcus is. And Joan is the mother of the group. She keeps us calm, on task, and makes us get along. We’re all such different personalities, but we work well together.

Thanks so much for interviewing me today on In This World of Books. I’ve enjoyed being here!

Yay! That's the end of the interview! I hope you guys had fun meeting and learning more about Clay! And I also want to thank Clay for answering my questions ;)
