Blitz: Out of Practice Aphrodite by S.E. Babin

Displaying Aphrodite_FBBanner.jpeg
Welcome to my stop on the
Out of Practice Aphrodite Promo Blitz
hosted by Wanderlust Book Tours

Displaying Aphrodite HighRes.jpegBlurb:

Abby’s major screw-up brings the wrath of Zeus upon her head. He offers her a choice—work for him or spend the rest of her days hanging out in Hades with her ex-husband. For Abby, this choice is a no-brainer, especially when Zeus says the only thing he wants her to do is make a love match. She’s the Goddess of Love. What could go wrong?

Everything.

Abby stumbles into an ex-lover, a dead demi-god and the realization that a crucial relic has been stolen right out from underneath Zeus’ nose. Eris, the Goddess of Chaos and Discord, is behind the theft and murder and the faltering powers Abby is trying to keep secret. With Zeus breathing down her neck, she’ll need to keep her wits about her as she races against the clock and Zeus’ imposed two-week time period.

Of course, this is easier said than done. Not only is she struggling with a budding attraction to a sexy lawman and feelings for long-time friend, Hermes, she’s also trying to keep everyone out of the path of a vengeful goddess while saving the Earth and Olympus from the reign of a tyrant. What’s a goddess to do when the fate of the world rests upon her fashionable shoulders?

Thoughts: I love these Greek mythology retells. After reading Percy Jackson like 4 years ago, I'm totally in love with Greek mythology. It's just so interesting and fun to read about. All the gods and goddesses have so much character. And I mean, gee, it's Percy Jackson. Okay. Maybe not. But yannoe, they're "related" to him. :)

Beginning with random, terrible poetry and a slightly popular reimagining of Beowulf's Grendel in her high school English class, Sheryl spent way too much time in the library, killing any chance of her becoming a cheerleader or anything even remotely cool.

Book Spotlights: Ignite Me and more..

Ignite Me (Shatter Me, #3)
These are just some of the books that are coming out and caught my attention. I want to share these with everyone. :)
This kind of like a bunch of Waiting on Wednesdays combined.

Ignite Me (Shatter Me #3)
by Tahereh Mafi
Release Date: February 4th, 2014.

Blurb:

The heart-stopping conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, which Ransom Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, called "a thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love"

Juliette now knows she may be the only one who can stop the Reestablishment. But to take them down, she'll need the help of the one person she never thought she could trust: Warner. And as they work together, Juliette will discover that everything she thought she knew-about Warner, her abilities, and even Adam-was wrong.

In Shatter Me, Tahereh Mafi created a captivating and original story that combined the best of dystopian and paranormal and was praised by Publishers Weekly as "a gripping read from an author who's not afraid to take risks." The sequel, Unravel Me, blew readers away with heart-racing twists and turns, and New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia said it was "dangerous, sexy, romantic, and intense." Now this final book brings the series to a shocking and climactic end.

Cindy's Thoughts: Ohmergerd. Can't wait! Like forreal! That love-triangle. Okay. My brain is like saying Adam and Juliette should really be together. Cuz yannoe, good, hot boy with girl. But then half of my heart is saying Warner and Juliette~ Warner is so mysterious. And like I wanna really to get to know him in the last book. The finale of Shatter Me~ CAN'T WAIT!

Into the Still Blue (Under the Never Sky, #3)Into the Still Blue (Under the Never Sky #3)
by Veronica Rossi
Release Date: January 28th, 2014.

Blurb:

The earth-shattering conclusion to Veronica Rossi's "masterpiece" Under the Never Sky trilogy and sequel to the New York Timesbestselling Through the Ever Night (Examiner.com).

Their love and their leadership have been tested. Now it's time for Perry and Aria to unite the Dwellers and the Outsiders in one last desperate attempt to bring balance to their world.

The race to the Still Blue has reached a stalemate. Aria and Perry are determined to find this last safe-haven from the Aether storms before Sable and Hess do-and they are just as determined to stay together.

Meanwhile, time is running out to rescue Cinder, who was abducted by Hess and Sable for his unique abilities. And when Roar returns to camp, he is so furious with Perry that he won't even look at him, and Perry begins to feel like they have already lost.

Out of options, Perry and Aria assemble a team to mount an impossible rescue mission-because Cinder isn't just the key to unlocking the Still Blue and their only hope for survival, he's also their friend. And in a dying world, the bonds between people are what matter most.

In this final book in her stunning Under the Never Sky trilogy, Veronica Rossi raises the stakes to their absolute limit and brings her epic love story to an unforgettable close.

Cindy's Thoughts: Whoodeedoop. Another great series coming to an end. Although this series aren't one of my favorites, I still enjoy a good novel. Since I had already read the first two, why not finish it off. And see what future awaits Perry and Aria? :)

The Son of Sobek
Son of Sobek
by Rick Riordan
Release Date: June 18th, 2013.

Blurb:

In this audio e-book short story narrated by Rick Riordan, Carter Kane is investigating rumored sightings of a monster on Long Island when he runs into something else: a mysterious boy named Percy Jackson. And their meeting isn't exactly friendly. . . . Includes a sneak peek chapter from HOUSE OF HADES, Book Four in the Heroes of Olympus series.

Read an excerpt from the story here:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/123234832/S...

Cindy's Thoughts: Finally! Rick Riordan had done it. Egyptians meet the Greek & Romans. In this case, it's probably just Greece. Omg. So the great Percy Jackson finally meets Carter Kane. :) Awesome. Can't wait to read this one. Or hear it. Since this book is already out, we don't have to wait that long.

Resist (Breathe, #2)Resist (Breathe #2)
by Sarah Crossan
Release Date: October 8th, 2013.

Blurb:

The sequel—and conclusion—to Sarah Crossan's Breathe. Three teen outlaws must survive on their own in a world without air, exiled outside the glass dome that protects what's left of human civilization. Gripping action, provocative ideas, and shocking revelations in a dystopian novel that fans of Patrick Ness and Veronica Roth will devour.

Bea, Alina, and Quinn are on the run. They started a rebellion and were thrown out of the pod, the only place where there's enough oxygen to breathe. Bea has lost her family. Alina has lost her home. And Quinn has lost his privileged life. Can they survive in the perilous Outlands? Can they finish the revolution they began? Especially when a young operative from the pod's Special Forces is sent after them. Their only chance is to stand together, even when terrible circumstances force them apart. When the future of human society is in danger, these four teens must decide where their allegiances lie. Sarah Crossan has created a dangerous, and shattered society in this wrenching, thought-provoking, and unforgettable post-apocalyptic novel.

Cindy's Thoughts: This book was okay. I would continue on its series...so let's see what happens in book two. Book one wasn't as good as I thought it was but let's continue on.

That's it for now. Of course, there's a whole lots of others like Champion by Marie Lu, Cress by Marissa Meyer, and Allegiant by Veronica Ross. But I featured all them already so. Yeap. Have a nice day.
And Happy Reading~

The Forgotten Ones Book Blast

by Laura Howard

Allison O'Malley's plan is to go to grad school so she can get a good job and take care of her schizophrenic mother. She has carefully closed herself off from everything else, including a relationship with Ethan, who she's been in love with for as long as she can remember.

What is definitely not part of the plan is the return of her long-lost father, who claims he can bring Allison's mother back from the dark place her mind has gone. Allison doesn't trust her father, so why would she believe his stories about a long forgotten Irish people, the Tuatha de Danaan? But truths have a way of revealing themselves. Secrets will eventually surface. And Allison must learn to set aside her plan and work with her father if there is even a small chance it could restore her mother's sanity.

Hidden Book Blast

VBT Hidden Banner copy.jpg

Welcome to my stop on the Hidden Book Blast
hosted by Goddess Fish Promotions.

MEDIA KIT BookCover.jpgBlurb:

Sixteen-year-old Leah Grant has given up on being normal. She’d settle for stopping the voices in her head, intrusive visions of the future, and better odds of making it to her seventeenth birthday.

That’s the thing about pretending to be human in a world where magic used to exist – at any moment, her cover could be blown and she’ll be burned to death like the rest of the witches.

Everything changes when she loses control of her powers and flees the orphanage she grew up in. She desperately wants to be invisible but finds her face plastered on every news channel as humans panic over the possible resurgence of her kind. And now the hunters won’t give up until they find her.Making friends for the first time in her life and falling in love with one of them drives her to discover why she is unlike any being she’s ever met – human or otherwise. The dangerous powers inside of her that would repel Nathan, her new, handsome reason for living, are priceless to some. The locked up forever kind of priceless. And to others, they are too dangerous to allow her to live.

Let’s hope she can stay hidden.

Excerpt:
A far second to oranges, the song I sang in the shower every night had a way of soothing me. More than anything, it made me tired enough to fall asleep. With Whitney gone, I didn’t have to whisper it.

The stars are out,

It’s time for bed.

Now close your eyes,

And rest your head.

May angels shield you with their wings,

As you dream your little angel dreams.

I didn’t recall composing that song, but apparently, I used to think I was good and perfect like the angels. I knew better now.

I stepped out of the shower and tugged a brush through my unruly brown tangles. I stared into the mirror over the sink as I started the song again. My skin screamed winter. I should be a warmer tan; I looked less creepy in the summer. Maybe that was why the girls had been digging into me so hard. I looked rather witchy. The unease that made them mock me was probably their souls warning them, urging them to notice I was different and dangerous.

At my worst, it feels like the fire that could easily shoot from my palm is raging inside of me. My heart picks up, more than when I’m scared. It pounds, I can’t hear. My blood dances, taunting me, begging me to hurt whoever’s hurt me. And I know that I can. I feel that I can.

But I don’t. I breathe and pray and let the magic cool.

Blog Tour: Cresent by Homer Hickham

Welcome to my stop on the Crescent blog tour
hosted by YA Bound
Click HERE to see the full blog tour schedule!

Crater (Helium-3, #1)Blurb:

A MINING COLONY ON THE MOON. A DEADLY MISSION. AND A SECRET BIGGER THAN TWO WORLDS.

It's the 22nd Century. A tough, pioneering people mine the moon for Helium-3 to produce energy for a desperate, war-torn Earth.

Sixteen-year-old Crater Trueblood loves his job as a Helium-3 miner. But when he saves a fellow miner, his life changes forever. Impressed by his heroism, the owner of the mine orders Crater to undertake a dangerous mission. Crater doubts himself, but has no choice. He must go.

With the help of Maria, the mine owner's frustrating but gorgeous granddaughter, and his gillie--a sentient and sometimes insubordinate clump of slime mold cells--Crater must fight both human and subhuman enemies. He'll battle his way across a thousand miles of deadly lunar terrain and face genetically altered super warriors in his quest to recover an astonishing object that will alter the lives of everyone on the moon.

Cindy's Review: I read super little of this book, only the first few chapters. From that, I can tell that Crater is a pretty straight up guy, who does what he thinks is right. But he can also be easily betrayed, like Pedro. He had always though Pedro was his brother, but what he doesn't realize is what he thinks of someone might not be how the other person thinks of him.

The first few chapter doesn't really give much, but I kind of got the setting and the feeling of how things go. Although the blurb has already talked about, I'll describe the setting anyways, just to make my review longer. LOL.  Basically, this book takes place in the future, science fiction, as you might already can tell from the title. The book takes place on the moon, where criminals from Earth are banished to mine for the precious Helium-3 I learned that Helium is only on the outer layers of Earth. Hmmm. And we're running out of Helium.  Okay. Yep. I really can't get anything out of a few chapters....

So Crater is the main character of the book, therefore that's why it's the title of this book. Okay. What I'm saying is really stupid. I should just wait till after I finish reading the books first.

Crescent (Helium-3, #2)Blurb:

They said she wasn’t human. They were wrong.
A seemingly endless war against the insurgent Crowhoppers keeps the people of Moontown fighting when they’d rather be mining valuable Helium-3. Crater Trueblood’s valiant efforts against the genetically-manipulated beings weighs heavily on his mind. What is he really fighting for?
In the midst of a deadly battle, Crater captures an enemy Crowhopper. But this one he refuses to kill. “It” is genetically more human than not and its gender seems to be female. She calls herself Crescent.
Crater takes her to Moontown as a prisoner of war, but treats her kindly. However, at the hands of Moontown residents Crescent experiences prejudice and even cruelty.
Soon Crescent is imprisoned for a murder she didn’t commit. Crater comes to her aid, and the two become fugitives, escaping into the vast expanse of hostile terrain called “the big suck.” For Crater, it turns out the cause most worth fighting for may be right by his side.

This post was supposed to be a review post, but I really couldn't read the books in time for this post. So I made it a promo post instead. I'm so sorry. It's just that the end of the school activities are really overwhelming. And I didn't have time to read Crescent in two days. I received Crescent like two days before my tour. It wasn't anyone's fault but the book wasn't out yet before then and mail is just slow in general. Plus,my school literally stuffed everything on the last week of school like the Awards Night, Promotion Party, Promotion Ceremony, Great America  etc. I also have those extracurricular activities like Eureka! and volunteering, and this blog. So I'm sorry this wasn't that high on my list.

I would definitely read the books later (perhaps after school is over, which is like in like 5 days, thank goodness) and review them here on my blog. So stay tuned! And I'll also most likely cross-post to Goodreads. Thanks!
