Movie Review: Divergent

 YEP. I finally watched Divergent!
Yay~

 Divergent (Divergent, #1)

When the movie came out last Friday, I heard about the bad reviews. But then, I still wanted to watch it. I mean, I've waiting for this movie to come out since forever. Technically, since they told us that it was gonna become a movie, but who cares.

My Thoughts:
The Movie Setting/Overall:
Okay. Maybe this wasn't the best movie ever. Since I seriously loved Catching Fire. Like so much. Like it was really good. But I think Divergent went pretty well.

There were some few added parts and the characters say different things from the book, but I think the movie followed the book pretty well. The setting was really well-created. I didn't expect the buildings to be like that, but I'm just seeing this in Neil Burger's (he's the director btw) POV.

At the same time, I feel like this movie wasn't as exciting as the book. I wanted more action. I mean, it's so hard to explain, but it really feels different from reading the book. When you get to certain parts in the book, you'll feel the suspense and all those emotions, but I just can't say the same about the movie. But I totally get why. That's why the books are always better than the movies (except maybe Catching Fire) because the in the books, you actually know the characters' thoughts and beliefs. I only got excited in the movie when they kissed. I mean. It was hot. Don't take my 'excitedness' overboard.

The Characters:
Four - Theo James there. I love Theo and everything, but truly, he wasn't how I imagined Four. Theo is buff and hot like Four was supposed to be. And those tats. But maybe it's the personality that got me. Four wasn't supposed to make jokes and joke around. I really wanted that cold, Winter prince personality. Cuz I just fell for Four there.

Also, Four was like super helpful to Tris in the movie. I found that really obvious. Like really obvious. I mean, he didn't help Tris that much. Four was at like every turn. But Theo James is a really good actor, and I just can't help but gush about him. So I can't despise him. Never. I hope he has a cool personality in real life though. Cuz actors like that are da bomb.

Tris - Shailene Woodley is really pretty. I think she made a pretty good Tris. That part where she was crying for her mother just broke my heart. Well....I have no comment about Tris. What should I say about her? I really don't know. Let's move on....

..And talk about how Shailene Woodley is also in The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Guys, I am SO watching this movie. THAT BOOK was....*tears. It was good. Those characters. *cries. I just can't. And that ending. Like what the what even. AND, I can't believe Shailene Woodley is gonna be in it. And the main guy character in The Fault in Our Stars plays Caleb in Divergent. LIKE WHAT EVEN. Caleb is Tris' brother btw. He was supposed to be somewhat evil in the book, but he was totally innocent in the movie. It went from BROTHER to LOVE INTEREST. Umm. That would be weird.

But Ansel Elgort is not that ugly. He's tall too.

Christina - I just can't help but mention.....WOAH. Blown out of my mind, cuz Christina definitely wasn't like that in the book. Now, I have this whole new perception of her. First of all, she's like really short. And the book kickass girl and the movie kickass girl just felt different. BUT I ALSO CAN'T HELP but mentioning HER LAUGH. Her laugh is so unique. It sounds like a Sims laugh. LOL. Interesting.

Will - Another thing. I really expected Will to be like cute. Like hot. Like perfect. You know, I just wanted Will to be perfectly hot. I don't why. But to me, Will looked like Al and kind of Peter in the movie. Maybe I'm paying too much attention to Four....

Tori - Maggie Q. I don't even know her but like perfect! Tori is so cool. Exactly the way I imagined Tori.

Eric - I thought Eric was gonna be way younger than that. Eric is supposed to be weenier and shorter, right?

Overall:
Divergent was pretty good. I liked the characters. I loved the setting. And I loved Tori. The plot.....waverish. They left a lot out but they got the most important ones in.

ONE MORE THING I REALLY WANTED. Definitely more chemistry between  the main characters. They're kind of lacking some chemistry (besides that kissing part).

The Rating: 3.5/5

Book Haul #4

Eek! Guys! These are just the books that I couldn't resist.
I don't do much book hauls. So this one is a huge one. Where I actually bought for all the books. As in they are not gifted or free. And as in they are NOT ebooks. :)
I had to buy them. Omg. Hehe. Glad to add them to my shelf.
Everything is from Amazon.

She never expects to become Po's friend.

She never expects to learn a new truth about her own Grace—or about a terrible secret that lies hidden far away...a secret that could destroy all seven kingdoms with words alone.

Comments:
I first read this book in the 2009 CYRM event. Because it was a nominee. And it turns out I loved it. :) So did everyone else. So yep. Definitely. I would love to have Katsa and Po on my shelves. There they can join my ARC version of Fire, with Brigan and Fire. Teehee~

Graceling is becoming a movie guys~ In 2014. Oh yes, I'm definitely watching that.
I think Graceling was on sale for 5 something once. I didn't buy it....oh wells.

Divergent (Divergent, #1)Divergent (Divergent #1)
by Veronica Roth
Release Date: February 28th, 2012
Paperback, 487 pages
Price: $5.49 +tax

Blurb:

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are--and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, Tris also learns that her secret might help her save the ones she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

Comments:
The other 2014 movie I'm dying for. This action packed dystopian young adult novel is also one of my high list books. They rank very high. :) And they are GOOD. So if you ever want to read them, go ahead. But probably everyone had read them already. LOL.

So yes. I certainly want sexy Four on my book shelf.

And for the movie status. The cast is already known to public! :D
Here's more info on the 2014 Divergent movie and other recent and future book movies.
The pictures might not show..so yeah...

Of course, I would also buy Book 2 of Divergent. Since it was half off.  9.24 for a hardcover? Especially for a famously sought one. Hell yeah! LOL.

Okay. No news on Insurgent movie yet. But yannoe. We'll get there.

P.S. The price may vary. Like when you get to Amazon, it might not be the same price so don't be disappointed.

Comments:
Then, I also bought the second installment of the series. Haven't read it yet. Since it came today. :) But going to.

I did buy the Clockwork Princess. But I pre-ordered the paperback version. I have no release date on that. But the price is somewhere in the 9 ranges.

But why would demons be interested in an ordinary mundane like Clary? And how did she suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know....

Comments:
And with the movie coming out for this one. I had to also buy this one and reread my Jace lines. The  cocky and arrogant Jace in the book is amazing. Haha. :)

Okay. SO THAT MOVIE.
Here's my fandom post. LOL.

Simple Perfection (Perfection, #2; Rosemary Beach, #5)Simple Perfection (Perfection #2)
by Abbi Glines
Release Date: September 23rd, 2013.

Thoughts: Welps. I'm not a too big fan of the Woods and Della series. And when I'm not a big fan of the storyline or the characters, I end up don't liking the new adult novel. The only new adult novels I enjoy are the ones I absolutely love. Hehe. But who knows. I mean, it's Abbi Glines. She writes like the best new adult novels ever! I probably won't be staggering because of this novel, but I will definitely read it for fun, when I'm novelless.

Tagline: Woods had his perfect life mapped out for him.
Not much of a tagline, but well....

The Transfer: A Divergent Story (Divergent, #0.1)The Transfer (Divergent #0.1)
by Veronica Roth
Release Date: September 3rd, 2013.

Thoughts: Hehe. For those who know, I'm such a Divergent fan. Like forreal. So of course, I read it already. :) Haven't written the review yet, but it'll come soon...meaning somewhere in the next two months. LOL. Okey. And well. The Transfer is basically a prequel. It's all about Four. Like two years ago before Divergent took place.
Plus, I think I did a whole post on this.

Tagline: More Four!
LOL. Nice~

United We Spy (Gallagher Girls, #6)United We Spy (Gallagher Girls #6)
by Ally Carter
Release Date: September 17th, 2013.

Thoughts: This is the one. The one I've been actually waiting for to come since forever. Like. The finale to Cammie and Zach and all those spy stuff. I know this is more of a kid/middle school read. But like. But like I just love Ally Carter's spy novel. And might as well finish it up.
By the time this post comes, it should be mailing to me. Omg. Hehe. But right now, I still have to wait like a whole week. Ugh.

Tagline: Cammie Morgan has lost her father and her memory, but in the heart-pounding conclusion to the best-selling Gallagher Girls series, she finds her greatest mission yet.

The Chaos of StarsThe Chaos of Stars
by Kiersten White
Release Date: September 10th, 2013.

Thoughts: Hmmm. Didn't really know about this one. But then the cover is really pretty. And I have read Kiersten White books. They are pretty good. So yeah. I'll probably end up trying this one out. :D

Tagline: Isadora’s family is seriously screwed up.
LOL~ I would definitely read it.

Saving Raphael Santiago (The Bane Chronicles, #6)Saving Raphael Santiago (The Bane Chronicles #6)
by Cassandra Clare & Sarah Rees Brennan
Release Date: Seotember 17th, 2013.

Thoughts: Eek! More Cassie Clare. More sassy warlock. More Magnus Bane! LOL. I haven't even read any of the Bane Chronicles. But it's definitely on my superduper long TBR list.
I think the cover is kind of plain. But it's aight. As long as there's Magnus. :D
Btw, Raphael's the vampire. Remember him?

Tagline: A Manhattan teen—Raphael Santiago—is missing, and Magnus Bane must track him down before it’s too late.
Sounds like a mystery novel.

Sweet Legacy (Medusa Girls, #3)Sweet Legacy (Medusa Girls #3)
by Terra Lynn Childs
Release Date: September 3rd, 2013.

Thoughts: I actually don't know this series at all, but what caught me was Percy Jackson and Greek mythology. I love them both. :D This is the final book, so if there's any cliffhangers in the first or second book, I'll always have the last one. :D Gotta try this one out.

Tagline: The stunning conclusion of Tera Lynn Childs's Greek mythology–based Sweet Venom trilogy is perfect for teen fans of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series.
See what I mean?

The World of Divergent: The Path to Allegiant (Divergent, #2.5)The World of Divergent: The Path to Allegiant (Divergent #2.5)
By Veronica Roth
Release Date: September 24th, 2013.

Thoughts: Wait, what's this? Huh. Didn't know about this one. But coolios. Gotta read this one too~ Hehe. Great. Wonder what it's about. And omg. Allegiant. Totally baby. They should really get a cover for this though. Or not.

Tagline: Fascinated by the world of the Divergent series? This fifty-page bonus, previously only available in the Divergent Series Box Set, includes faction manifestos, a faction quiz, Q&A with #1 New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth, book playlists, discussion questions, series inspirations, and much more!

Risked (The Missing, #6)Risked (The Missing #6)
by Margaret Peterson Haddix
Release Date: September 3rd, 2013.

Thoughts: Another one of my favorite middle grade books. Truthfully, I like history. Just not listening teacher drone on and on. And taking tests. But I like historical fiction. And The Missing series has a lot in it. And you can learn a lot of cool and fun facts. Kind of like The Magic Tree House. But it's more sci-fi than magic.

Tagline: Jonah thought that after his last adventure in 1903, he and his sister Katherine would have a break from time travel for a while. For the first time, he’s willing to look into his own identity in the past, and he thinks this is his chance.
So we'll learn more about Jonah~

The Boy On The PorchThe Boy on the Porch
by Sharon Creech
Release Date: September 3rd, 2013.

Thoughts: Okay. This just suggests romance. And I lurve those. And you know what else I love? Sharon Creech novels. They're good. They're of course, once again middle grade level. But many of Sharon's books are Newbery Award Winners. Like Walk Two Moons. If I did remember correctly, I cried reading that.

Tagline: From Newbery Medal winner Sharon Creech comes a singular story that reminds us of the surprising connections that bloom when unconditional love and generosity prevail. For when a young couple finds a boy asleep on their porch, their lives take an unexpectedly joyous turn.
Okay. Nvm. I guess this more of a family love connection kind of book. But I like those too. They make you cry. A lot.

Secrets of the fall (Loving summer: Donovan brothers #2)Secrets of the Fall (Loving Summer #4)
by Kailin Gow
Release Date: September 30th, 2013.

Thoughts: Omgomgomg. I read the first book and literally loved it. I really can't wait to see how that love triangle goes. But I really haven't been keeping with the second and the third book. Now that the fourth book is out, looks like I have some catching up to do.

Tagline: The Donovan Brothers… two gorgeous brothers in love with the same girl. How far would they fall to have her? One of them will claim her, but the other will find her. Only one can win her forever, unless their family secrets destroy everything.
OH OKAY~

Quantum Entanglement (Interchron #2)Quantum Entanglement (Intercrhon #2)
by Liesel K. Hill
Release Date: September 17th, 2013.

Thoughts: Read the first one. Pretty good. I liked it. :) So continuing onto the second one. :D Whoopdeedoop. KK. I'm like getting all tired and stuff. School tomorrow. Ugh. The mile. Ugh. Test results. Ugh. Welps. Night. Omg. That just doesn't make sense when this post goes up. Haha.

Tagline: Five months after traveling to a post-apocalyptic future where collectives reign supreme and individuals have been hunted to the verge of extinction, Maggie Harper was returned to her own time until the threat to her life could be neutralized.

Okay guys~ ._. That's it. I'm out. Lol. Not too much to say. But yay~ More books to read~ Whoopdeedoop~

Tuesday, September 3, 2013

For Divergent Fans~

If that title caught your attention, I'm talking to you right there. :D

Divergent (Divergent, #1)Insurgent (Divergent, #2)Allegiant (Divergent, #3)

You guys know how good this series was.
OR is going to be. :3

And I bet you guys heard about the four short stories Veronica Roth is going to
write~. ;)

Divergent - Four short story 'The Transfer' cover
The first one is called The Transfer. And they are all Four's POV. Weee. More Four. More Tobias. It comes out on September 3rd, guys! 2013! Whoopee! As an ebook.

The cover is revealed. :) I guess the cover's pretty interesting. But judging from the Divergent and Insurgent cover, it kind of has that skyline idea. And the circular thing in the middle. ^^

And apparently, if you look really close to that circular thing on the cover, it shows trains. I'm pretty this is more of a prequel to Divergent. Since this talks about Four transferring from Abnegation to Dauntless.

EITHER WAY, ANTICIPATE! :)

Books to Movies

There are so many books going to become movies. Ohmygawd. I just have to fandom about them all. The most recent one that is to come out in less than a week (tomorrow) is Sea of Monsters. :D Book 2 in the Percy Jackson series.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters
Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013) Poster The movie is probably going to be a little different than the book, as was The Lightning Thief. But it doesn't really matter. As long as Logan Lermen is there. Haha. :)

Movie Teaser: In order to restore their dying safe haven, the son of Poseidon and his friends embark on a quest to the Sea of Monsters to find the mythical Golden Fleece while trying to stop an ancient evil from rising.

Release Date: August 7th, 2013 (at least in the US) in theaters

Cast:
Percy Jackson - Logan Lerman
Annabeth Chase - Alexandra Daddario
Tyson - Douglas Smith
Clarisse La Rue - Leven Rambin
Grover Underwood - Brandon T. Jackson

Movie Trailer:

I dunno if this is the right trailer. But then, it's on TV~ :D And I got too excited. My mom thought I was crazy. In which I am. Haha.

I'm glad Annabeth is finally getting her hair color right, to blond. Since in The Lightning Thief, all Percy noticed was her blonde hair and blue eyes. LOL. I'm also glad most of the characters are staying the same. The only character that changes in Chiron and I don't even remember what he looks like. Plus, he was half horse in the movie so yeah. Can't say my memory is that good...

I think one highlight in this movie would be seeing Grover in a wedding dress. I hope it'll show in the movie, but it definitely showed in the book. In the trailer those cyclops doesn't look like cyclops. But maybe they aren't.

The movie releases tomorrow, so I don't have much to say until it's out. And I'm probably going to watch it like a week after it's release *hint hint I might talk about it. Or not.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013) Poster

There is a world hidden within our own.

Well. I'm definitely not as big of a Cassie Clare fan as my friend, but I promised I'd watch it with her. So I will. I kind of want to it anyways. I won't have as much comments about City of Bones than Percy Jackson. But I promise I'll be talking. LOL.

Movie Teaser: When her mom is attacked and taken from their home in New York City by a demon, a seemingly ordinary teenage girl, Clary Fray, finds out truths about her past and bloodline on her quest to get her back, that changes her entire life.

Release Date: August 21st, 2013 (USA) in theaters

I'm gonna go watch it on the 24th, since school starts on that day. Liana planned this date like literally months ahead. Omg.

Cast:

Clary Fray - Lily Collins
Jace Wayland - Jamie Campbell Bower
Simon Lewis - Robert Sheehan
Magnus Bane - Godfrey Gao

These are my considered the most important characters.

Movie Trailer:

Sorry Liana. But Jamie doesn't fit a Jace image to me. At all. I'm not saying Jamie's ugly or anything. But Jace doesn't look like that. Does he? I wanted Alex Prettyfer to be Jace. But it's alright. I'll live through the movie. I'll just won't drool throughout the entire movie, like while I'm watching Percy Jackson. I'm not that disgusting guys. I don't really drool.

And Magnus Bane is asian? Okayy. Okayy. Well like that, I didn't expect Grover to be African American either. Hehe.

City of Ashes will come out in 2014. I guess I'm going to see that too~ :D

More info @ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1538403/

Divergent:

Divergent (2014) Posterthe cover may not be official

This one is the one movie for me that I must watch. Like I can totally imagining Divergent being a movie. Omg. Really. There's so much action scenes in the book that I know my eyes can't leave the screen. Yes. I admit it. I want to watch Divergent even more than Sea of Monsters. Definitely.

Movie Teaser: Set in a futuristic dystopia, a teenager seeks to break free from her homogeneous society that divides people based on human traits. She leaves her faction and joins a rival group, where she falls for an older man. In this case, the older man is only two years older than her.

Release Date: March 21st, 2014 (USA) in theaters

Can't wait!

Cast:
Beatrice 'Tris' Prior - Shailene Woodley
Tobias 'Four' Eaton - Theo James
Eric - Jai Courtney
Peter - Miles Teller
Jeanine Matthews - Kate Winslet

Okay. There's more. But too lazy....

Omg. Kate Winslet! I know. The rose from Titanic. My friend laughed when I told her this. I think Shailene Woodley would kind of suit Tris. But Theo James tho. In my dreams, Four x100000 hotter. I'm not trying to be mean, but they really need to pick hotter guys for these roles. It needs to live up to our fangurls' expectations. Like really.  At least Theo James is buff. But then, looks are more important to me.

Of course, though, acting skills are the most important so maybe Theo acts really well. Haven't seen any of his movies.

Movie Trailer:

I'm not even sure there is even a movie trailer for Divergent yet.
I just randomly choose one that doesn't seem fan made.
I'll take it down if it's too boring. LOL.

Jeremy Irvine should have totally accepted the role of Four. OMG. Like why? Did he have to turn it down. You look good as a teen idol though. Are teen idols that bad. Well, you'll probably only get teen fangurls. Haha. I think Jeremy Irvine makes a better Four. He looks younger than Theo James. And Four is only 18 in the book.

Graceling:
For those who haven't heard: That's right! Graceling is going to be a movie! :D Yay~ I love Graceling. If only they can make Fire as a movie.                                                                                                                                     It's going to come out in 2014, but nothing is known yet. We don't know the cast or when it will be released. But I will anticipate it. :D                                                                                                                                        And I would think of my wanted casts but then. I would  have to think too much.                                                                                                                                       More info @ http://www.imdb.com/news/ni52186642/

I think that's it for now. I can't think of anymore upcoming movies. Maybe it's because I've fangurling so hard, my brain is turning to mush. K. Stay tuned for more news. :D

And if you guys hear of another book-turned-movie being made, be sure to tell me! Like really!

Oh yeah. I just remembered. Fifty Shades of Grey is also becoming a movie. And trust me, I will definitely not watch that. Is it 19+? I probably won't even being get in the theaters. I can sneak in, but I really don't want to. Haha.

K. That's it for now~ Stay tuned.
