Goodreads Summary: Prentisstown isn't like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else's thoughts in an overwhelming, never-ending stream of Noise. Just a month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd and his dog, Manchee -- whose thoughts Todd can hear too, whether he wants to or not -- stumble upon an area of complete silence. They find that in a town where privacy is impossible, something terrible has been hidden -- a secret so awful that Todd and Manchee must run for their lives.

But how do you escape when your pursuers can hear your every thought?

Cindy's Review: This book was very, very highly recommended by my book buddy, Liana. So hightly recommended that she actually sent me the book. LOL.

The Cover:

Hmmm. Well, The cover didn't have a big effect on me. But the title definitely sounded interesting. ;)

The Characters/Plot:
Two main characters that are human. Fine. There's the beloved Manchee but he isn't really a main character. Well, I like how there is a road on the other cover. I think it totally matches the plot. ;)

Todd Hewitt -  He is finally turning 13 in a month. Finally being let in the secret that all the other boys, who are already a man, whose already 13 knows. In his town, Prentisstown, everybody could hear everyone's thoughts. So you can't keep anything from anyone, except for that huge secret that causes Todd to have to secretly run away. All women are extinct in that town. The reason? They were supposingly killed by Spackles during a war.

One day, Todd went to a swamp and found silence floating around. You can never, ever hear silence. Because you can hear everyone, and I mean, everyone's thoughts, including animals and I'm not sure about plants, but either way, you can hear every living things' thoughts. Even when, you're around non-living things, you hear things. You never hear silence floating around.

Before Todd knew it, his two guardians, Ben and Cillian was forcing him to secretly leave through the swamp. Todd doesn't know why, but he just know that he has to get as far away as possible from Prentisstown. Rumor is, there are other towns along the road, and at the end, there is a humongous town called Haven. Todd just have to get there.

Viola Eade - Along the road, Todd catches up with the 'silence floating around'. It turns out that it was a girl. Viola came from the old world recently. Her mom, dad, and her was on a spaceship scouting ahead, when they crash-landed. Her parents died leaving her alone in this new world with nothing to fend herself with. She was at first chased by a guy named Aaron. So when Todd came to her, holding a knife, she was scared. Later, Viola finally gave her trust to Todd and together they run away from the army that is marching forward from Prentisstown, the army that is chasing after Todd.

Book Comparisons:

Honestly, this book is so original and not thought of, I can't think of any books with a similar plot as this book. Or with similar setting. ;)

The Ending:

Speechless. Literally. Like my heart stopped. How the heck....Omg. Yeah. Really. I'll laugh at them if they weren't in a critical shape. LOL.

The Bad:

Romance!! Viola and Todd should like each other more!! Maybe kiss? LOL.

The Good:

Yay. Original stories for the world!! I love this plot of a long road with tons of twist and turns. Can't wait to see what else happens!!

Rate: (1-10): 9!!

Happy Reading~
