Book Review: City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2)City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments #2)
Book Summary: Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father.

To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?

In this breathtaking sequel to City of Bones, Cassandra Clare lures her readers back into the dark grip of New York City's Downworld, where love is never safe and power becomes the deadliest temptation.

Cindy's Summary/Opinions: Hey guys. I'm back with another review. Although typically, I did it on the same day as City of Bones, because I don't have time later on the week. This one, I'm determined to do a better review. Since I ate lunch and I should be thinking clearer. LOL.

So City of Ashes continues where Clary gets to know more of the Clave and Downworlders. She gets to learn about her parenthood, family tree, and what kind of threat Valentine really is. Cool name though. But the biggest thing in the book, that made me wait and wait and drag on and read along was because of this family romance problem thing. I don't want to spoil the book, if you haven't read this series yet. So no names. So like why in the world does she have to be sisters with him? Really! OMG! And stupid me read a spoiler, so I learned that they aren't really really family, so I had to suffer through the book with them being siblings. Ugh.

Yep. So like I said. Team Jace!!!

Rate:(1-10): 8.9

So basically, this one quote stood out a lot to me. And it's kinda true. Ish
If you think about it:

"Love made you a liar"

That's like as far as I go. LOL. So that's it for today!! ;)
