Goodreads Summary: Summer has always looked forward to spending her summers at her Aunt's beach house with the Donovans. To her, summers at Aunt Sookie's beach house was magical, especially getting to spend time with the Donovans - her best friend Rachel and Rachel's brothers Nathaniel, and Drew. Here at Aunt Sookie's beach house, they can be anyone and anything they dreamed. For Summer, she had always wished to become as pretty as Rachel and for her brothers to think of her as more than Rachel's friend. For Nat and Drew, summers at Aunt Sookie's beach house meant fun and escape, a place where they go to with their mom and sister for the summer, away from city life. They never thought this summer would be different. They never thought things would change as much as they did...and it all began with them falling for and loving Summer.
Cindy's Review: This book is the first book I've read written by Kailin Gow. Even before, I read her books, I fell in love with just the teaser. Now, I'm totally in love with her books and I'm trying to get a chance to read all of her books, That means signing up for all her tours if possible.
As much as I love the cover, I can't say I fell in love with this book because of the cover this time. It was really the teaser that hit me. That make me want to read this. I dunno why. But that's that.
Hmmm. Lemme see. I'll start off with the main character first.
Summer is this fun and loving sixteen year old who went to live with her Aunt Sookie in California for the summer. There, she meets up with her best friend, Rachel, whom she hasn't seen in a very very long time. I really like Summer's name. ;)
Rachel is, of course, Summer's best friend. Her parents are having a divorce, so she was sent to California for the summer, along with her two older brothers, Nathaniel (Nate) and Drew.
Nate is Rachel's oldest brother. He is also Summer's crush since like forever. She even likes Nate now, and I think Nate likes her but their relationship is so confusing, I'm not sure if I even want to pursue it.
Drew is Rachel's twin I believe. He' s older than her, I know. But I think they are twins so they're the same age. Drew is handsome and popular. He' s the quarterback for his school's football team. That means he's fit and girls are chasing after him. He sounds yummy. LOL. Anyways, Summer thinks Drew is this annoying boy who always pesters her. In truth, Drew likes her. Like a lot. I totally approve.
Okay, so Summer had decided to move on from Nate , so when this actor guy who goes to Aunt Sookie's acting school shows interest in her, she decides to date him. I forgot his name. Seriously. I think it starts with an A, but I just want to make this clear. As nice and cool as he is, I do not ever want Summer to end up with him. Maybe someone like Drew. :)
I think I've pretty much told the plot to you. Summer is going to California for the summer and live with her Aunt Sookie. Summer is helping Aunt Sookie out, especially when she finds out that Aunt Sookie is not well. What Summer didn't know is that she'll be meeting a couple of new people.
There's the guy she's dating. Ugh. And she's meeting the grown up, new versions of her friends she hasn't seen for so long. The budding romance between them drives us deeper and deeper into Summer's life, and her having to choose between three boys.
I think it counts as a love=triangle, okay, more like a love-square but you totally get the idea. TEAM DREW!!, Ya'll.<3
The ending was kinda confusing to me. I had no idea who Summer ended up with. I think she ended up with the actor guy, for now. I mean, she didn't break up with him, so I guess she's still with him. She's having second thoughts though. That's the romance part.
The ending was also sad for me. One precious character isn't there anymore. Actually I think there's more than one. ;(
I totally loved the deep emotions and the good narrating Kailin Gow writes in this book. It isn't a major cliffhanger. And at least Loving Summer has an ending. AND I really really want Summer to end up with Drew.
I don't really know what to say in this column. I guess, maybe Kailin Gow could include more of Rachel in it. Seeing as Rachel is Summer's best friend. I mean, Rachel does come up a lot, but maybe some more? Yep. This concludes my super duper long summary!
