Cindy's Review: My friends seemed really really excited to read this book. And they were going crazy about how an ad on Goodreads made them really want to read this book. So I decided to give it a try. To give it a start, when you read this book, you have no idea that there were two different authors writing. I think they work really well together. And I like Katherine's last name, Applegate. And I find really cool that Michael and Katherine are married. Okay back to review.

The Cover:

Awesome! Very captivating. I totally get the cover. Every part of it is in the book, describes the book. It's like the last piece of the story. The apple, is what started it all. The lightning, I guess you can say it's the chemistry, or the car crash for that matter. The letters surrounding it, I bet it's the DNA's or hormones or whatever. Except it's probably not DNA because DNA only uses G, A, C, and T. And even if it's RNA, the only other letter is U. On the other hand, it could be chromosomes, except chromosomes still use G, A, C, and T. Okay. I can't believe I still remember that from last year. Anyways, the puzzle pieces is like Eve's construction of Adam. Totally awesome cover!!

The Characters:

So this book consists of three main characters. Or more like two main characters and another character has a POV part in the book. 

The girl, Eve, the ultra main character is an only child. Her mother, the CEO of Spiker Biopharmaceuticals. Big word. Omg. Anyways, her mother could create humans and do all those cool, illegal, not possible in our world (I think. You'll never know.) things. Eve was involved in a car crash and totally ruined her leg. It's probably broken into pieces, but her mother insists that she rest at Spiker Biopharm instead of the hospital. Spending three weeks in there doing nothing is super boring, right? Except, Eve's mother assigns her to create the perfect guy. Out of chromosones.  Or whatever she's doing. 

Then, there's Solo. His mysterious past is like the whole reason of this book. Solo (nice name) was basically raised by Eve's mother as the runner boy, who did whatever she asked. He hates Eve mother, wants to get revenge on her, so he decided to give evidence to the FBI on all the illegal stuff Eve's mom does. Except the deeper he digs, the more he finds out whose at fault. And at the end, it was one person who could stop him. Guess. ;) So Eve and Solo take turns having POV parts in the book.

Adam, the second part of the title. He only has one POV part. I think. Or at least only a few. Since, during most part of the book, he was being made,  I don't know much about him,, except he kind of acts robot-y. Thinking about it, shouldn't Eve and Adam fall in love? I mean, Eve created him. Her idea of a perfect guy. She's gotta like him. ;) You'll see the twist. But if you're smart enough, I'll bet you know it by now. LOL. 

The Plot: 

I don't even know why I do this part anymore. I think I explain everything in the characters sections. So. I guess, I'll combine it next time.

Book Comparisons:

Hmmm. I probably don't have my thinking cap on, because I really don't remember what this book reminds me of. Not really. Okay. Skip. Until maybe I remember. Or maybe it's just so unique, there isn't any. But everything reminds me of something. Okay. Eve and Adam reminds of that story form the bible, but I swear this isn't even close. 

I got it!!! Okay. So Eve and Adam reminds me of  The Adoration of Jenna Fox. Which  read all they way back in sixth grade. Which was only two years ago. But I do have really bad memory. LOL. So in the Adoration of Jenna Fox, it had the same scientifical stuff, but I won't tell you more because I think all the scientific stuff happens in the end.

The Ending:

My reaction was Ummmm.....okay. Not that it was bad. But I kinda want Eve to end up with the other guy. I dunno... I don't have much of an idea about who she should end up with in this book. Because I'm not madly enough with both guys, so no thoughts there.

The Bad:

Hmmmm......she should have ended with the other guy. And please, make Adam more man-like. He seems like Ken from Barbie. And he also seems like a wimp at the same time. 

The Good:

Well, these sci-fi stuff. Pretty well thought out, I kinda like sci-fi genre so yaay!

Cindy's Review: This book was a fast read. The pages turned literally by themselves. It had the right amount of romance, suspense, and adventure. Yes. It's another one of those books I love about angels and human. An angel is a magnificent being. ;)

Sam lives with her Uncle Mike and her Cousin Claire, after the tragic accident that took both of her parents' lives. One day, she meets a boy in the woods, whom she can't take her eyes off of. The boy called Shadow also shows up at her high school. At first, Sam calls Shadow arrogant, egotistical, annoying, conceited, self-centered. But later one, she found his caring side. 

Shadow came to Mystery Falls to fulfill an angel's quest. And it doesn't necessarily involve Sam. But Shadow and Sam grew close, even when Shadow fully knows that he shouldn't. You know, the whole thing where angels can't be with humans. Because it breaks their laws. Yeah. But true love can conquer all!

Out of all of these angel and human books, the ending was quite entertaining. I was smiling with relief. Such a great read! I definitely recommend this book. ;)

Rate: (1-10): 8.5 stars!

I want to thank Marilyn Philips for being here on my blog today and taking her time in answering the questions. ;) So here the interview comes. ;) 


1. In one sentence, why should a reader read Mystery Falls?

Mystery Falls is a Young Adult Paranormal Romance which was written not only for the young, but also for those who are young at heart.

2. If Mystery Falls was turned into a movie, who would you pick to play Sam and Shadow?

Shadow is easy. I would pick Ian Somerhalder without a doubt. Samantha, she is much more difficult. So far, I have not come across an actress I could imagine playing her role. All I could say at this point; is that they would have to be relatively new and display an air of innocence and naivety.

3. What inspired you to write Mystery Falls?

I have always loved books. Reading has been a passion of mine since a very early age, so I would have to say that my inspiration comes from other authors. I have always had an
active imagination, and I have always wanted to write my own novel. As for Mystery Falls specifically, it was a story which simply started to write itself in my head, and with time
finally available to me, I decided there was no better opportunity than now, to put those words on paper.

4. If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Actually, I have a few authors I would consider as mentors. Becca Fitzpatrick, Stephenie Meyer, Claudia Gray, Amanda Hocking. Each has their own unique style of writing, and from each, I have learnt something.

5. Mystery Falls' blue cover is very attractive and catches attention. Who designed the covers?

I did. It stems from one of the scenes in the book. The eerie blue waterfall and the white feather are highly significant. But that’s all I’m going to say.

6. Do you have to travel much concerning your book?

No. So far I haven’t had to travel at all. But that’s not to say that I won’t in the future. If a situation arises where it is required, then yes, most definitely, I will travel. Can I also add here that I do travel virtually? I do a lot of research online, sourcing details from many places, mainly in the North American continent. For example, the setting for Mystery Falls is based on a small town located in Clearwater National Park, Idaho.

7. If you can change one thing about Mystery Falls, what would it be? A character? Or you think it's perfect as it is?

Oh! This is a tough one. I don’t think I would change any of the characters. I tend to like them just the way they are. However, if I had the chance to go back, there might be a few
scenes I would re-write. As far as making any significant additions to the story, I think that’s for the next book in the series. 

8. What are your current projects?

I am currently working on Mystery Rises, the sequel to Mystery Falls. It is due to be released sometime in 2013.

9. Is there anything you find particularly challenging in writing Mystery Falls? Such as the romance or the grasp of feeling, etc.?

Kissing scenes can be challenging. It’s important for me to get that as close to perfect as I can. To get those feelings and emotions across to the reader so that they may, in some way,
feel what Samantha’s feeling.

10. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Yes. I would like to say a huge ‘Thank you’ to each and every one of you for your support. It has been amazing, far more than I expected. You are all truly awesome!!

Cindy's Reason: Ohmygawd! Ohmygawd! The Goodreads summary is killing me. I recently read The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter and decided I wanted to continue on with the series. Even though I haven't read the second book yet, I can tell once I read it, I'll want to read the third book since there's a cliffhanger and everything. Okay. Just from the teaser, I need to read this book. So, I totally can't wait till this book comes out!

Cindy's Review: So I see everyone about and reviewing this book. And I know I love romance. And I know I also love Abbi Glines' books,  so I decided to pick up this one and try it out. Totally did not regret my decision.

The Cover:

Spicy and hot. I see. Yes, I'm reading this. Normally, I really don't like the main characters' age difference to be too big. Even five years is big for me. But this one, I really don't mind. Despite being five years apart, Rush sounds so hot, I don't even care anything. I'll just think of him as twenty. Omg. Okey.

The Characters: 

So the whole thing of how Rush and Blaire is related is kinda confusing. Rush mom is now married to Blaire's dad, but they are not blood related. They are basically step-brothers and sisters. Even though they like each other, I don't think it's disgusting because really, they're not blood related.

Blaire's mom had just died of cancer. She has no one left but her dad, butt when she went to her dad's house, apparently he went on a honeymoon trip with his wife. Now, she's stuck with living under stair's in Rush's house.

Rush? Spoiled you can say. His father is a rock star. What  can you expect? Well, aside fromm being rich and spoiled, he's also hot. So hot, even some innocent girl who just suffered through her mother dying to notice him.

Nan is a bitch. Sorry about my language, but I swear she is a bitch. I don't get why they protect her and all, but i's part of the book.

The Plot:

So, I think I already told you the plot up there in the characters section. Yep. Blaire is stuck with Rush. Nan gives Blaire the cold-eye. What's the reason with all this? You find out, reading  the book. ;D

Book Comparisons:

Honestly can't think of any comparisons. Well, except Someone to Love by Addison Moore, which I haven't wrote a review yet. Because the guy characters are both smokin hot and the the girl characters are both innocent, naive, and a virgin. And both guys feel like they should give up being a play boy for the girl.

The Ending: 

I needa read the next book!!

The Bad:

I promise myself not to read porn. This isn't porn, but technically, I don't think I'm old enough to read sex scenes yet. It's not my fault books have them, okay? LOL.

The Good:

The romance is one hot like fire relationship. If you're a romance lover I suggest you read it, despite the making love scenes. 

The Rating: (1-10): 9.1

Cindy's Review: I guess I was kind of recommended to read this book. I was recommended by this person I know from school, she's not a book person, but she seems so obsessed with it, I might as well give it a try. And  I really like the author's laslt name, Fitzpatrick. LOL.

The Cover: 

Every time I look at the cover, I remember that my friend had met the author and the guy on the cover. Apparently, he's okay looking and that cute. No problem with me. LOL. I'm not super obsessed with this book.

The Characters:

First, I'll introduce the main character, Nora. Nora is a star student, good girl, with a best friend. Her mom is often of town, working while she stays at home alone. Totally a bad idea. Thou shall never leave a teenage kid at home alone. But I can't say anything, because I'm a teenage kid, whose often alone on the weekends. Also, these whole two weeks because of Christmas Break. Okay. Back on track. Nora was teamed up with Patch, the new transfer guy, for biology and have to deal with his mysterious smiles and attitude.

Patch is really a fallen angel. He decided he fell in love with a human and decided to descend from heaven to become a human. But when he descended, he later got caught by the archangels and got his wings chopped off. Then, he became a fallen angel. 

The Plot:

Fallen angels have the desire to control a human body. To go into their body and take control. But they could only do it for one month each year. A Nephilim named Chauncey was unlucky enough to be Patch's human body during the month. 

Nora is in danger. Someone is trying to kill her. Not once, but multiple times. The only problem? The person who is supposed to be killing her is the one she's falling in love with. And there's more. When her supposed killer starts liking her, Nora finds more killers on her track.

Book Comparison:

I don't really have a specific book in mind. I have a subject in mind. Angels. All books about angels and romance. I can even name some. Unearthly by Cynthia Hand s a particular one I reviewed. But there are a whole lot others (I don't remember the titles.)

Book Ending: 

The ending is quite interesting. Final line: You can never get rid of Patch. I can't wait to read Cresendo. Even though I'm not crazy about this series, I don't reading the sequel. ;)

The Bad: 

This doesn't really belong in the bad list, but sometimes, even though every book is unique, there are just too much repeptitives of angel novels. I'm kind of tired of angel books. All of them have romance. And it's always either a fallen angel or a Nephilim. Either way, I'm not exactly gonna put an angel book as my number one to-be-read book, but it'll still be in my list. You get me? Maybe not. I'm kinda lousy at explaining stuff.

The Good:

Ya know, the uniqueness. No two books are alike, but at least Hush Hush isn't too much alike as the other angel books.

The Rating: (1-10): 7.9

Not a bad book. Good writing and everything. But like I said, I'm tired of angel books.

Although this is a Veer Blog Tour, I only received Derailed, 

so I guess I can only review Derailed, but Veer would still be promoted.

Cindy's Review: My first interpretation of this book was when I started reading. I thought it would another one of those new adult novels that I wouldn't be interested in, since I enjoy young adult novels more. But turns out the taste isn't that different as young adult novels. It's just that the main character are about 5 years older and they have more independence and they don't go to school. And they also live alone. 

The romance isn't that different from young adult novels because I could accept. I actually enjoyed the romance parts (like the small kisses only, cuz I'm not a porn reader). And even though yes, there are like two sex scenes, which doesn't tell you anything since they just tell you it's gonna happen, not the whole feelings and the disgusting details some author provides, no offense. I'm just not an adult romance reader and I don't enjoy erotic books. 

The main character's only 22 and Ben, her ex-boyfriend, whom she's getting back together again (Yes!) is 23. Their ages aren't that far apart. That's what I like. And I can just imagine them as 17 and 18. LOL. But their surroundings are different. Either way, totally enjoyable read here. 

I wanted to read Veer but I didn't even receive the book. Oh well. It think Veer is a different story with different characters, so that will make it interesting. ;D

Cindy's Summary: I first saw this book in Goodreads and I was reading everyone's reviews. They were all so good and encouraging I decided to go check it out. 

The Cover: 

I didn't have much time to analyze the cover though, because just the book title makes me want to start reading immediately. The good reviews and the catching plot. Yep. No time to even look at the picture. LOL.

The Characters:

Kate Winters is the main character of the story. With her mom dying and a girl from school dead, she had no idea what to do. When a mysterious guy she saw at the mansion up on the hill gives her a chance for her to spend more time with her mom and for Ava to live again, Kate accepts, but there is a catch. Kate will have to spend six months in a year with Henry inside the mansion. 

Henry is a mysterious guy who owns the mansion up that hill by that river. Yeah. All I remember is that it's in Eden, because I have bad memories. LOL. Henry turns out to be Hades and apparently Hades is going to fade into nothingness if he doesn't find a girl who can survive and pass the seven tests given the Council for immortality. And Kate is his final chance of ruling the underworld. Even Henry (Hades) is way old, he's apparently on 22 in this book and apparently, he's also virgin. 

There are like so much other characters I would introduce you to, but that means I'll give away the ending. 

The Plot:

Kate is given seven tests to pass in order to live as Hades wife and help him rule the underworld. But someone in the palace wants her dead. Someone is trying to kill her, like how all the other girls had died. So while trying to pass the tests, which Kate has no idea what they are, she also needs to stay alive. So Kate goes through twists and turns and up and downs of emotions, even finding herself attracted to Henry. Do I make sense here? LOL.

Book Comparisons: 

Okay. I love book comparisons. So this book reminds me a little of the Percy Jackson series. Not because of the plot. I mean, the plot is way, way different. Truthfully, just anything having to do with Greek mythology reminds me of Percy Jackson LOL. 

And the name Henry reminds me of Harry. I don't know where that came from. Now when I think of Harry, it's either from One Direction (even though I am NOT a Directioner) or Harry Stephens from a book that isn't even out yet, Incend. LOL. Btw, Incend is not being written by me, just so you know. 

Xander. Just the name Xander reminds me of the perfectness of Matched by Allie Condie. I honestly don't understand the ending of that series, but it's probably because I never read the book. 

The name James just reminds me of this annoying guy whose in my 5th period class. That's not even a book. Omg. Idk. James just reminds me of somthing. Irene reminds me of Liana's sister. Ella. Well, Ella Enchanted? LOL. Dylan. Okay. Dylan reminds me of that guy from The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. But Dylan barely appears in this book.

The Ending:

Normally, I don't have to say during these last three topics, but I sure do have a lot this time! The ending was quite magnificent. I really didn't expect that surprising twist in the last few chapters. I really think this book wasn't that bad, despite some few bad ratings on Goodreads. Certainly enjoyable ending that leaves me sighing in relief, but also with a strip of anxiety, waiting for what will happen in the next book. 

The Bad:

Okay. I have to admit, because of Percy Jackson, I just love Greek mythology. But in this book, everything just don't connect like normal Greek mythology does. I mean, Ella and Theo being twins that connects. And Ava just being beautiful and is out dating guys. Yes. I get that too. But Ava and Theo? Ew. No. In Percy Jackson, definitely a big no-no. In Percy Jackson, Theo is hot, okay? Well, the god that Theo is, is hot. Um. Ava and Xander? No no too. The god that Xander is in Percy Jackson is pretty cool, even though he's kinda of a jackass. 

Also, I thought Zeus was the most powerful in Greek mythology, but in this book, Zeus barely say a word. I mean, it seems like Demeter is the powerful wave that enters the room instead of Zues. But if Zeus entered the room, I wouldn't feel the powerful wave LOL. Because, in this case, Demeter is special. 

I understand that it's hard to connect everything. I mean, if it were up to me, I would have quit a  long, long time ago. 

Another thing I think is that could be better is the tests. The tests aren't bad or anything, but I think there should be twelve tests instead of seven, because there are twelve Olympians and all. I also think the tests should be harder, not that it was easy to begin with, but it seems that if Kate has to be perfect to past the tests and really, Kate seems like a normal girl to me. Not that special or outstanding. 

But you know, there has to be something bad in order for something good to happen. I mean, if nothing is bad, than nothing is good either. ;)

The Good:

Even though not everything connected, I think this was a really smart plot. I like how everything is twisted up and made in to a new shape. It's pretty cool. I can say this was the best book I've read since Percy Jackson. But nothing ever beats Percy Jackson though. You can't deny how hot Percy Jackson is. Not just because of Logan Lerman, but just Percy Jackson from the book is hot. And I love how Annabeth is a strong, female lead. Okey. Heading back to The Goddess Test.

I really love the title. I think it fits really well with the book and you know, this book is a pretty big hooker with a sharp hook that would keep you from laying down on your bed and sleep at night. ;D If you get what I mean.

Overall, very enjoyable book! I totally recommend!!
